Frequently Asked Questions Does your practice file insurance? As a service to our patients we will file insurance claims for you. During your first visit, your insurance coverage will be verified. If your insurance coverage can not be verified, we ask that you pay at the time services are rendered. Once your coverage has been verified, we ask that you pay any portion not covered by your insurance at the time of treatment. Are you a member of a DMO (HMO) or PDO (PPO)? Our practice is not affiliated with any Dental Maintenance Organization (DMO) or Preferred Provider Organization (PPO). However, we can file claims for a large percentage of PPO insurances. Why aren’t you associated with any HMO or PPO plans? The philosophy of our practice maintains that patients should be allowed to choose their dentist. Your good health is one of the most important aspects of your life. Therefore, we believe you should select your dentist and healthcare providers based on their ability to meet your health needs. Absolutely! Children should see a dentist by the age of two. Bleaching is a technique used to whiten teeth. We use a scientifically proven and safe method to whiten your teeth. Molds of your teeth are used to make bleaching trays. A mild bleaching solution is placed inside the trays. The trays are worn 2-3 hours each night to lighten your teeth. Typically, patients use the trays for 2-4 weeks or until their teeth are the desired shade. Yes. The mild bleaching solution only affects the outer surfaces of your teeth. Crowns are a type of dental restoration which encompass the portion of a tooth which lies at and above the gum line. In comparison, fillings are dental restorations which are used to fill in or cover over just a portion of a tooth. Since dental crowns cover over the entire visible aspect of a tooth, a dental crown in effect becomes the tooth's new outer surface. Over time, teeth with large restorations will weaken and may fracture. Crowns are often needed if teeth have large restorations (fillings). Additionally, crowns and veneers can be used for esthetic purposes to improve the appearance of teeth that are badly misshapen or have unattractive restorations. Periodontal disease is inflammation and infection of the gums and ligaments that hold teeth in the jaw. Untreated periodontal disease will lead to loose teeth and eventually loss of teeth. INVISALIGN® is a technique to straighten teeth without braces. Similar to bleaching trays, these trays are made uniquely for your teeth by taking molds. A set of trays is then given to the patient to be worn all the times. Every two weeks a new set of trays is utilized. The trays slowly move the teeth to their new, straighter position. INVISALIGN® is not a cure-all to treat all orthodontic cases, however it is a wonderful option for many mild to moderate orthodontic cases. For example, many patients with minor crowding or spacing of teeth can be corrected using INVISALIGN®. What are the benefits of INVISALIGN®? First and foremost is their appearance during treatment. Most people will not even realize that you are wearing the trays. Secondly, patients can easily clean their teeth and gums just like usual without orthodontic brackets and wires to negotiate. Implants replace lost teeth. A titanium screw is placed in the bone that mimics the root of a natural tooth. After healing, a tooth-like crown is added to the screw so that normal function can be regained. Our practice does not place the screw aspect of the implant. We work with a periodontist or an oral surgeon to carefully plan your treatment, and then we restore the top part of the implant (the crown).
